Chappell Municipal Airport

Chappell Municipal Airport was established around 1968 through local efforts led by Billy Ray, a WWII pilot. Billy's son, Chris Ray, has managed the airport for the past 18 years.

In 2025, the airport received a $1,197,000 grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation – Aeronautics to fully rehabilitate its runway, with additional improvements planned for 2026.

The airport provides significant benefits to Chappell, supporting emergency medical transportation, serving visiting families, and facilitating business aviation in the area.

Chappell Recreation Area

Chappell Lake Recreation Area is located just along I-80. Fee-based camping is available, tents and campers are welcomed, no hookups/dry camping. The area has public restrooms and shelter picnic tables.

Chappell Lake is approximately 32 acres and is stocked with largemouth bass, channel catfish, and bluegill. It is great lake for a canoe or non-motorized watercraft.

Chappell Golf Course.

Pine trees line the course, and lateral water hazards are present on the fourth and ninth holes. The fourth fairway occasionally sees migratory geese. Amenities include a putting green, driving range, rental cars, pull carts, showers, snack bar, meeting room, pro shop, and no spikes policy.

Chappell 9-hold Disc Golf Course was built in 2025. It is considered a flat course, with concrete tees, mixed use and dogs are allowed.

Chappell Library & Art Gallery

The Fred and Minnie Meyer Sudman House, located at 5th and Vincent Ave. in Chappell, Nebraska, is a historic house (built 1911) that is a notable local landmark. It is a 42-by-36-foot wood frame house on a concrete masonry foundation. It is described as a "two-story, symmetrical, central hall, double-pile house," but having a plan that "incorporates spatial design usually reserved for high-style dwellings." It is known to have been built by contractor Henry Dickmeyer.  The Sudman-Neumann Heritage House was the first house to have electric lights and running water and is filled with period furniture.  It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1990. The house has now been restored to an early 20th-century appearance and is operated as the Sudman-Neumann Heritage House Museum.
